My Biggest Marriage Challenge

“We’re a team,” my husband often reminds me.

As much as those words are comforting (We’re in this together! We rely on each other!), nothing could have prepared me for becoming a teammate.

Sure, I’ve done school group projects before and I’ve been part of a team at work. But looking back, I was never really good at being a team member in certain ways. I always wanted the freedom to do what I wanted without having to consult with anyone. I hated having to get permission and approval for every little thing. (Part of the reason I love being a freelancer is that I don’t have to tell anyone when I’m taking a lunch break or going to an appointment).
